Kristine L. Callahan
Kris Callahan focuses her practice primarily on the areas of elder law, estate planning, and probate. Kris, a native of Pittsburgh, PA, moved to Fort Collins in 2006 after living in the Washington DC area for over 10 years. She graduated from Pennsylvania State University with a Bachelors of Science in Health Policy and Administration in 1992. She worked in a variety of settings in the health care field, including working as the administrator for a large medical practice, for over 10 years. Kris became interested in the practice of law as a result of her experience in the health field. She obtained a certificate in Health Law from the University of Maryland School of Law’s Law & Health Care Program. While in law school, Kris served as the Editor-in-Chief for the Journal of Health Care Law & Policy. Kris founded the firm Procter and Callahan, LLC with her business partner Elaine in 2009. Her background in health care is a tremendous asset in understanding public benefit programs such as Medicare and Medicaid.
Kris serves as a community member of the Poudre Valley Health System Health Care Ethics Committee. She belongs to the elder law, health law, and trust and estate sections of the Colorado Bar Association. She is a member of the Larimer County Bar Association and serves on the Colorado Bar Association’s Civic and Community Affairs Committee. Kris serves as a community member on the Good Samaritan Fort Collins Village Advisory Board. Kris served on the Board of Directors for Elderhaus from 2009 until 2012 and served as chair of the Larimer County Senior Law Day committee from 2010 until 2012. The Senior Law Day event is a passion for Kris, and she continues to serve on the planning committee. She is a current member of the Elder Care Network for Northern Colorado.
Kris has two teenage children and a golden retriever named Bailey. She lives in Fort Collins. In her spare time, she enjoys gardening, reading, hiking, skiing, watching movies, and any opportunity to listen to live music.
