J. Elaine Procter (retired)
Elaine Procter, who is now retired, has practiced law in Fort Collins since earning her law degree from the University of Denver in 1989. Elaine has practiced law for over twenty years and has experience in many areas of law including estate planning, special needs planning and disability trusts, probate administration, guardianships and conservatorships, elder law, Medicaid planning, and domestic issues.
Elaine was raised in a small town near Tulsa, Oklahoma. She had the opportunity to move to Colorado in 1975 when the Eastman Kodak Company recruited her to work in Windsor as an industrial designer. Elaine also worked with Hewlett-Packard Company in various marketing, facilities and management positions at their Fort Collins facility. Elaine holds an associate degree in Industrial Design from Northeastern Oklahoma College and a Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Technology from Colorado State University.
Elaine is very passionate about giving back to the community and has worked with many non-profit organizations, serving as either a volunteer or as a director, including Alternatives to Violence, Elderhaus Adult Day Care, Court Appointed Special Advocates, Long Term Care Ombudsman, Zonta International, and Junior Achievement.
Elaine is a member of the Larimer County Bar Association and the Trust and Estate and Elder Law Sections of the Colorado Bar Association. She frequently speaks on elder law and special needs issues throughout the community.
Elaine is married. She and her husband, Dennis, have two children and four grandchildren. Elaine and Dennis both enjoy travel and had the opportunity to live in Germany for two years where they traveled extensively throughout Europe. They also spend time in Summit County where they volunteer as ambassadors at Copper Mountain ski resort.
